This is pretty much the most annoying part. The airfryer's metal basket is the most annoying thing to clean. Especially for battered food. Well, battered food doesn't work well in an airfryer at all sadly. I tried to make tempura based food and battered fish. And it always ended up either sticking to the metal basket, or not cooking properly as the batter was too thick.
Anyhoo, we used to clean the basket by soaking it in water, then scrubbing it with metal and then using sponge and detergent. Nowadays though, we stick to using aluminium foil to place food on, so clean up is very minimal, and there doesn't seem to be much impact on the food. But I've discovered that you should not wrap the aluminium foil tightly, give the food some space to breathe.
Always use aluminium foil, unless you want to spend your evening scrubbing away all the bits of food stuck in the basket. If only the design allowed you to remove the metal basket. I've read some blog sites before that mentioned that you can remove it, but they provided no specifics and it doesn't look removable.
With the aluminium foil, you wouldn't need to wash the basket and the holder every time you use it. We only wash the airfryer periodically.
Cleaning this basket is a pain in the butt. Don't get it dirty in the first place! |

Food particles still drop into the holder despite best efforts |
